Ilkay Mehmet was a photojournalist and an ex Press photographer who had worked for a number of British newspapers which included: The Daily Mirror, The Observer, The Guardian, The Independent and The Economist magazine.
He had worked on commissioned and non-commissioned assignments on a variety of subject matter including: public order/disorder, documentary, portraiture, fashion and travel photography throught the United Kingdom and far afield in Europe, Africa, America and the Middle East.
His last post of employment was as staff Press photographer for The Daily Telegraph Newspaper before his resignation in 1992, afterwhich, he reverted to work as a freelance photojournalist until the turn of the 21st Century.
